ALCICLAV DS Syrup is a broad-spectrum antibiotic suspension that combines Amoxycillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, with Potassium Clavulanate, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This dual-action formula is designed to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections in children, especially those caused by resistant bacteria.
Amoxycillin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria. However, some bacteria produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which makes them resistant to standard penicillin antibiotics.
To overcome this, Potassium Clavulanate is included. It inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, allowing amoxycillin to retain its effectiveness and kill even the resistant strains.
This combination makes ALCICLAV DS ideal for treating infections of the respiratory tract, ear, nose, throat, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues, and even some dental infections.
