ALCICLAV-625 Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that combines Amoxicillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, with Potassium Clavulanate, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This powerful combination is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, ear, sinus, and bones.
Amoxicillin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of bacteria. However, some bacteria develop resistance by producing beta-lactamase enzymes. Potassium Clavulanate blocks these enzymes, allowing Amoxicillin to work effectively even against resistant strains.
This combination is commonly prescribed for infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, and sinusitis. It provides a synergistic action, expanding the spectrum and effectiveness of treatment.
The tablet is best taken with meals to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort. As with all antibiotics, it is essential to complete the full course to prevent the development of resistance.
